MARYSVILLE – Mayor Jon Nehring at the June 27 City Council meeting proclaimed July as Parks and Recreation Month in Marysville.

The proclamation emphasizes the City’s ongoing commitment to provide access to parks and recreational opportunities in Marysville, and encourages citizens to celebrate the month by setting out on their favorite fun and pleasurable activities.

“The City provides many recreational opportunities for the community and encourages citizens to take time to enjoy participation in a favorite sport, visit the outdoors, spend time with family and friends, or simply take a relaxing walk,” the Mayor said.

Marysville has 32 public parks encompassing 527 acres, 20 miles of walking and cycling trails, and a wide range of classes, recreational and quality sports programs, as well as leisure experiences, that give community members of all ages a chance to contribute to the community’s social and economic vitality.

“Parks and recreation agencies touch the lives of individuals, families, groups, and the entire community, which positively impacts upon the social, economic, health and environmental quality of our community,” Nehring said.

July has been designated by the National Recreation and Parks Association as Parks and Recreation Month.
