Career and technical education provides a school-to-careers connection that gives high school students experience in practical, meaningful applications of basic skills such as reading, writing and mathematics, coupled with learning skills in specific trades and vocations, many of which are essential in todays more specialized labor market and economy, Kendall says.
Kendall, City Councilmember Donna Wright and Community Information Officer Doug Buell are city representatives serving on the districts General Advisory Council for Career and Technical Education. Carol Davis is the districts CTE Director.
Examples of career fields within the program include marketing, business education, automotive technology, sports medicine, video production, culinary arts, family and consumer science, computer assisted design, and agriculture. The district program is also closely connected with the Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center in Everett.
