Marysville’s State Avenue closed after teenager hit by vehicle

MARYSVILLE — A 13-year-old boy was airlifted to Harborview after being struck by a vehicle on State Avenue, near City Hall.

MARYSVILLE — A teenage boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after being struck by a truck shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12.

According to Cmdr. Ralph Krusey of the Marysville Police Department, the 13-year-old male allegedly was on a Community Transit bus when it made a stop at the bus stop at Tenth Street and State Avenue. The youth was carrying a skateboard when he exited the bus. The boy ran in front of the bus and was struck by a pickup truck that was traveling southbound in the lane nearest the curb. The driver of the truck was a 47-year-old Lake Stevens resident.

The juvenile was treated at the scene and subsequently airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in serious by stable condition, according to Krusey.

Marysville police encourage everyone to be cautious while crossing streets. Always use crosswalks or cross at an intersection, stop and look both directions and never run in front of vehicles, according to Krusey. Even if you are in a crosswalk, make sure you look both directions before stepping off the curb.
