MARYSVILLE — The Marysville-Pilchuck High School football team scored and made plays from all over the field in its win over Marysville Getchell in the fifth annual Berry Bowl in a 3A Wesco league game 35-14 Sept. 23.

M-P junior quarterback Kee-An Ballard only passed six times, but he connected on three of them, two for touchdowns. The Tomahawks used a run-heavy game utilizing nine ball carriers by game’s end.

“We have a lot of guys that can do different things for us, and they have different skill sets,” M-P coach Brandon Carson said. “It’s really nice when each of them can thrive.”

Carson was pleased that M-P broke its two-game losing streak to start this season.

“Any conference win is great,” he said.

After MG punted on its first possession, the Tomahawks got their first scoring drive started via a trick play with running back Stacyee Robinson heaving a 37-yard pass to receiver Jordan Lutton. RB Galdino Farjardo eventually punched it in for his first of two touchdowns.

“Ballard did a great job managing the offense,” Carson said. “No one really stood out. I thought it was a great team effort all around.”

M-P never lost its momentum as it continued to shut out MG in the first half 21-0.

Eian Adock led M-P in rushing, accumulating 137 yards and a TD. Farjardo had 47 yards, and Jacob Carr had 11 carries for 41 yards.

“I’m one of the younger guys, but I feel like a lot of people look up to me to lead the team,” Ballard said.

After the 0-2 start, Ballard said a better season should follow.

“I feel like it’s going to get everyone excited for the next couple of games,” Ballard said. “We started off slow but I feel like this will push us to do better through the rest of the season.”
