MARYSVILLE — The Office of the State Fire Marshal is pleased to congratulate the Marysville Fire District for its demonstrated commitment to, and effective promotion of, fire prevention programs in its community, having earned the fire district the distinguished Life Safety Achievement Award for 2012.

“The number of fire fatalities in our state are lower each year, thanks to fire agencies such as Maryville making their communities safer,” State Fire Marshal Charles Duffy said.

Since 1994, the National Association of State Fire Marshals Foundation, along with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, have recognized fire departments for their fire prevention efforts, by awarding the Life Safety Achievement Award to those fire departments in our nation that experienced zero fire deaths in their jurisdiction during the previous calendar year.

A list of criteria, and an application for the 2013 award, will be available online at www.grinnellmutual.com in the spring of 2014.
