MARYSVILLE – Do you know of a pothole that needs to be fixed in Marysville?

The city of Marysville has announced a new “Report a Pothole” website to enable residents to notify the city of the need for prompt repairs.

If you come across a pothole, you can use the online form on the city’s website or call 360-363-8100, so that street crews can locate it.

“We are determined to rid our streets of potholes in Marysville, for the improved safety of the motoring public, bicycle riders and pedestrians,” Mayor Jon Nehring said.

Reports will be submitted to the Marysville Public Works Department Street Division. The pothole will be repaired as soon as possible, according to Public Works Director Kevin Nielsen.

Nielsen explained that potholes are holes in road surfaces that cause noticeable impact on vehicles and driving conditions. Potholes are most often caused by stress from regular vehicle usage, hot and cold temperature changes in the weather that can make multi-layered roadways brittle or weak over time, and water intrusion. All of these can eventually cause cracks in the road’s asphalt surface, which lead to broken-up chunks of road that can then sink into the existing roadway.

When reporting online, please provide the exact location of the pothole, such as the street address, the names of cross streets or major intersections nearest the pothole. Also, furnish your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address, so city representatives may contact you if they need to obtain more information or send you status reports advising you what the city is doing to address your concerns.

To report other non-emergency problems such as minor street repairs, sidewalk safety concerns, malfunctioning traffic signals and damaged street signs, please use the city’s general “Contact Us” website.
