Marysville police arrest man on run hours after vehicular assault put schools in lock down

MARYSVILLE – Police arrested a 55-year-old Granite Falls man Wednesday after an hourslong manhunt.

The man allegedly stole a vehicle then strike another vehicle. He escaped on foot, which led to a lockdown of five Marysville schools. Some students arrived home hours later as a result.

At about 2:30 p.m., a Marysville police sergeant observed suspicious activity at the Goodwill parking lot, 9300 block of State Ave. The vehicle drove away recklessly, assistant police chief Jeff Goldman said in a news release. The subject was throwing various types of paraphernalia out the window. The suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of 80th Street and 51st Avenue.

A police K-9 track ensued and a discarded firearm was located in the area of 7900 block of 52nd Avenue. The schools were placed into lockdown to ensure the safety of the children.

The passenger in the suspect vehicle was caught and transported to the hospital via ambulance with possible injuries to his upper torso.

The driver of the vehicle that was hit was examined for injuries to his back.
