MARYSVILLE — While local residents are turning out to the Marysville-Pilchuck High School campus Oct. 9 to support M-PHS students in their football game against Lake Stevens, they can also check out the school’s Oktoberfest celebration that night, from 6-10 p.m. behind the stadium.

Tiffany McLaughlin, an M-PHS junior who’s helping coordinate the event this year, explained that it’s free to any student with ASB, and $5 per person to all other attendees. She estimated that there will be 25 booths for the Oktoberfest’s 15th year at the M-PHS campus, and noted that German culture and cuisine won’t be the only ones on hand that evening.

“We have lots of different clubs, each of which will be bringing different foods of their own,” McLaughlin said. “The French and Japanese clubs will be serving food too. There will be French crepes, and the Japanese club has this Japanese soda that’s really cool, because you pop a marble down into the bottle to make it bubbly.”

In addition to offering a multicultural dining experience, the M-PHS Oktoberfest celebration raises funds to support the school and its clubs, with funding going to cover costs ranging from supplies to activities, the latter including field trips.
