Local writer wins national contest

MARYSVILLE – J.R. Nakken of Marysville has won the grand prize in the inaugural Reminisce & LifeRich Memoir Writing Contest.

MARYSVILLE – J.R. Nakken of Marysville has won the grand prize in the inaugural Reminisce & LifeRich Memoir Writing Contest.

She will receive a LifeRich Publishing Transform publishing package and an Author Video Interview valued at more than $10,000.

“I’m walkin’ on air,” Nakken said in an email to The Globe.

Nakken won for her entry called, “Confessions of a Martian Schoolgirl.” It is about how she felt so different from others when she was young that she thought she was from Mars.

Nakken will be able to add five or six of her other works to have a book published called, “Confessions of a Martian Schoolgirl and Other Odd Stories.”
