Local volleyball teams get wins; Marysville divers qualify to state (slide show)

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville-Pilchuck and Getchell girls swim teams were out-pointed by Glacier Peak and Snohomish but had some strong individual performances Oct. 18.

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville-Pilchuck and Getchell girls swim teams were out-pointed by Glacier Peak and Snohomish but had some strong individual performances Oct. 18.

MG’s Chloe Bishop and M-P’s Lexi Kilbourn qualified to state in the dives. Bishop placed second scoring 226.25 against Glacier Peak and Snohomish. Kilbourn placed third scoring 224.55.

Abby Magee of M-P had a strong showing as well, championing in the individual medley with a new time of 2 minutes, 17.38 seconds and finishing first in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.97.

M-P lost to Glacier Peak 125-53 and Snohomish 121-55; MG lost to Glacier Peak 146-31 Snohomish 140-37.

TULALIP — The Tulalip Heritage volleyball team topped Lummi Nation 3-1 (25-5, 22-25, 25-6 and 25-16) Oct. 19. Highlights: Myrna Redleaf and Aliya Jones had 10 kills each. Tulalip’s record is 7-4.

ARLINGTON — Arlington won all three matches (25-12, 25-11 and 25-17) against Stanwood in volleyball Oct. 18. Highlights: Morgan Van Laar had eight kills and 1o digs; and Rylie Rasar had six kills, six aces and 11 digs. Arlington’s record improved to 11-1.

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood volleyball team defeated Lynden 3-1 (17-25, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-21) Oct. 18. Highlights: Jelly Perry and Paige Shimkus had 11 kills each; and Jenna Melton led with 25 digs. Lakewood improved its record to 8-3.

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Marysville-Pilchuck topped Mountlake Terrace 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-17) in volleyball Oct. 18. Highlights: Alexis Bundy had 16 kills. M-P’s record improved to 3-8.

LYNNWOOD — Arlington’s McKenzie Buell scored two goals, and Gia Tift and Courtney Arnold added two apiece to shut out Mountlake Terrace 4-0 in girls soccer Oct. 18. Arlington’s record improved to 11-2-1.

EVERETT — The Marysville Getchell volleyball team defeated Everett 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 25-21, 16-25 and 15-10) Oct. 18. Highlights: Ali Sievers had nine kills, and Robin Meador had 24 digs. MG’s record improved to 3-9.

EVERETT — The Marysville-Pilchuck girls soccer team was blanked 1-0 by Everett Oct. 18. M-P’s record fell to 5-5-3.
