EVERETT Two Marysville artists are showing beautiful big watercolor paintings of flowers in the 2007 Northwest Watercolor Society Exhibit at the Historic Monte Cristo Hotel, in the show presented by the Arts Council of Snohomish County.
Signature members Joan Grout and Dot Stanton join some 20 other talented painters in the show that ends March 1. Stantons purple iris float through the air likes a big cumulous cloud and Grouts painting of fuchsia makes you feel like the flower is hanging right in your face.
The Northwest Watercolor Society was founded in 1939 in Seattle to promote the interest and appreciation of the watercolor medium. In 1992, it expanded to include members from across the United States and Canada. Today the organization brags more than 1,000 members and is recognized nationally as one of the 10 most prominent regional societies in the U.S. according to The Artists Magazine.
Being recognized as a signature member is a substantial achievement and may take an artist several years to qualify.
The gallery is located at 1507 Wall St. in downtown Everett. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays.
