MARYSVILLE — The city of Marysville is seeking vendors interested in participating in the second annual Healthy Communities Challenge Day.

The event takes place June 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Allen Creek Elementary, located at 65050 60th Dr. NE.

The free Challenge Day is a fun-filled community fitness and health celebration conducted in collaboration with the Snohomish County Get Movin’ summer program. This combination of events is designed to motivate youth and adults toward achieving health, nutrition and fitness goals. The Marysville Community Coalition has also rolled its 411 Community Connections Fair into the event, to showcase a network of organizations that provide community assistance to families in a variety of ways.

Last year’s Challenge Day drew more than 3,000 visitors. This year’s event highlights include a Hula Hoop Jamboree and giveaways including a RopeWorks demonstration with free jump ropes, Zumba and kung fu demonstrations, and Everett Clinic family health screenings. Marysville’s “Whistling Gardener,” Steve Smith of the Sunnyside Nursery, will conduct container vegetable gardening seminars, in conjunction with giveaways of herbs, strawberries and other plant starters. Attendees will also find community garden booths, walking and running seminars, sports injury prevention and screening booths, a free climbing wall and a family concert featuring the entertaining Recess Monkey.

If your business or organization is interested in setting up and hosting a booth, request a Vendor Application Form from the city of Marysville Parks and Recreation Department at 360-363-8400, or download the form at www.marysvillehealthycommunitiesproject.com. Completed forms must be returned by May 14 to Marysville Parks and Recreation, by postal mail to 6915 Armar Rd., Marysville, WA 98270, by fax to 360-651-5089 or by e-mail to at jballew@marysvillewa.gov. The suggested vendor donation is $5.
