We arent perfect and we certainly arent more special than anyone else. But God has given us a call to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through music. We write, sing and play to the best of our abilities in hope that our music would point others to Christ, our Lord and Savior, said the lead singer, Brian Dixen.
Music has an amazing ability to break down walls and open up doors that otherwise wouldnt be opened, Dixen said.
Dixen started playing guitar as a freshman in high school studying with his youth pastor. Soon after picking up the guitar he joined the youth worship band. He became focused and driven to make a difference with music. After high school Dixen gathered a band to help him spread Gods truth and love. Now, the Brian Dixen Band is doing just that the band will pour out its heart at the Masters Christian High School concert, Trinity at the old high school auditorium this Saturday, Nov. 11.
Along with Brian Dixen, the BDB includes Jon Birdsong, on bass, David Ramirez, on drums and Caleb Rieger, on electric guitar.
The 17-year-old Rieger began as the bass player in BDB then moved to lead guitar. More amazing then his guitar skills is his heart for the lost. Caleb believes many will come to know Jesus through the music of the Brian Dixen Band.
The newest member of the Brian Dixen Band, Birdsong has been playing bass and guitar for many years and has been on tour with the Acquire the Fire worship band.
The drummer, Ramirez grew up in Oregon where he learned to play drums in middle school and high school band, playing with several bands before making his way to Washington.
The high school principal, Mark Brown, said the concert is more than a fundraiser for the schools music program.
Our real goal is to give the kids something to do on a weekend. Brown said the school choir is about 40 strong, with 16 singers in high school, 15 in junior high and eight in a select group. The music teacher is Nancy Overgaard.
Our worship team is essentially a group of singers just like Jazzmine at AHS, said Brown. We are just getting started in acquiring equipment. Once we get what we need, well go on the road.
In the meantime, the MCTS Worship team is scheduled to perform at the Warm Beach Lights of Christmas event.
This Saturdays evening of fun runs from 5 to 10 p.m. at 135 S. French St., and features three other bands besides Brian Dixens Crosswalk, Brier Rose and Reign.
A special guest speaker, former UW Husky basketball player Kayla Burt will speak, as well as an Everett Explosion basketball player, as yet to be named.
