ARLINGTON — A fire heavily damaged a house southeast of Arlington June 27.

The homeowner, a man who appeared to be in his 50s, received treatment at the scene for smoke inhalation, officials said.

The fire was reported about 9 a.m. along Dogwood Lane, in the Jordan River Trails neighborhood.

Crews arrived to find the house’s attic and a nearby shed in flames, said Travis Hots, fire chief for Snohomish County Fire District 21, also known as Arlington Rural.

The house had three layers of roofing made from different materials, which complicated the firefighting, he said. Crews spent several hours extinguishing flames and protecting items in the home from smoke and water damage.

The man was receiving housing assistance from the American Red Cross, Hots said. The cause of the fire was unknown.

Crews also responded from Arlington, Marysville and other stations.
