Entries sought for Strawberry Festival poster contest

Entries are now being accepted for the 2009 Strawberry Festival Art Poster Contest.

MARYSVILLE — Entries are now being accepted for the 2009 Strawberry Festival Art Poster Contest.

The poster contest will be divided into Youth and Adult categories. Judges will be looking for the poster which best captures the spirit and essence of this year’s Strawberry Festival. The design must feature the 2009 Strawberry Festival theme — “Magical Fantasy.” The design must also contain the festival name and the date “June 12-21, 2009.” Keep in mind that the poster art is usually displayed in a business or home.

All entries must be completed and suitable for reproduction. Only original art will be considered; reproductions are not eligible, nor is artwork entered in previous contests. Artists may submit more than one entry, however only one entry will be awarded a prize.

Overall poster size (image plus border) must be at least 11 inches by 17 inches. Anyone may enter using any medium they wish. The winning poster will be reproduced in full color.

There will be two categories — Adult and Youth. Youth entries are limited to children ages 2-15. Adult entries are limited to entrants 16 years old and up.

When submitting artwork it should be protected by a cardboard or foamboard backing, or any other backing to keep it safe from damage. The artist is responsible for protecting the image surface if that is a concern. Each entry must be submitted with an official entry form. Entries with no entry form will be disqualified. Entry forms are available at www.marysvilleglobe.com.

The deadline is 5 p.m., April 24. No entries will be accepted after this date. The winner will be notified May 15 and the judge’s decision is final.

The first-place original artwork and all image reproduction rights become property of Maryfest Inc.
