MARYSVILLE — The Marysville School District is taking steps to eradicate a rat problem that has been around for years at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

A district email says they have asked for additional services from pest control and more people on their custodial staff.

Rats, and their droppings, have been seen in locker rooms and the science building.

Union president Randy Davis said housing construction in surrounding areas has forced rats to the school dumpsters, and the school itself.

Davis said this is just one more reason why the district needs to put up a bond for voters to pass so the 40-year-old school, and others in the district, can be updated.
