Discounts available for city utilities

MARYSVILLE If you are a low income senior citizen or disabled person who receives utility services water, sewer, garbage or drainage services from the city, you may be eligible for up to a 30 percent rate discount.

Qualifying seniors are 62 years of age or older with an annual total household income of less than $25,000. A disabled citizens income must be at or below 125 percent of the established federal poverty rate and meet other criteria proving their disabled or handicapped status.
Applications are available at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave. You also can go to the city Web site at ci.marysville.wa.us/senior utilities rate relief.htm or call 360-363-8000.
Low income participants in the Snohomish County PUD discount program are eligible for the city program, but only if they meet the senior or disabled qualifications. Customers who are indirectly billed for water and sewer may also be eligible for the discount. Documented proof is required. The deadline to apply is Feb. 29.
The rate relief program is available to customers whether they live inside or outside city limits, according to Community Information Officer Doug Buell.
