MARYSVILLE – Jake Daniels has been fighting cancer for two years and has now decided laughter is the best medicine.

MARYSVILLE – Jake Daniels has been fighting cancer for two years and has now decided laughter is the best medicine.

So he and fellow comedian Andrew Ouellette decided to raise money for the Center for Childhood Cancer Research in Seattle.

Ouellette and Daniels will be at the Homeplate Pub in Marysville Thursday, April 9, at 8 p.m. Cost is whatever you can pay at the door Ouellette said. Normally it costs $12 to $25 to get in.

Daniels and Ouellette’s “Knock’em Dead” tour started April 1 in California. They will be traveling all over the country over three months.

“We’re performing almost every night,” Ouellette said.

Daniels had a 15 percent chance of survival when he found out he had liver and kidney cancer and a tumor in his spleen. He now is at a 90 percent survival rate, having lost 150 pounds.

To celebrate, they decided to “go out and do what we love, stand-up comedy, and for a good cause,” Ouellette said.

He said he is returning to Marysville by popular demand, as he had a sold-out show here a few years back.

Ouellette said his material relates to his world travels, but some of Daniels’ relates to his cancer.

“They are personal experiences people can relate to,” Ouellette said.
