MARYSVILLE — As Columbia College’s Marysville and Everett campus recognized its graduates during a June 3 commencement ceremony, it also honored its students who were named to the dean’s list for January through March, as well as those who were inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta honor society.
Columbia College Marysville and Everett students Austin Demary, Dennis Gerik, Tracey Gerik, Faith Jeffrey, Tatiana Sarmiento and Karisa Viall were inducted into the Columbia College Chapter of Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business, Management and Administration.
Sigma Beta Delta exists to encourage and recognize scholarship and achievement among students of business. Membership in this honored chapter is reserved for students who rank in the top 20 percent of their class with at least a 3.5 GPA and have completed at least 30 credit hours at Columbia College toward their business administration degree.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student must have completed 12 semester hours in a 16-week period and achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5. From Arlington, this included Darrell Hutchens, Victor Koenig, Kevin Logan, Karen McCausland, Bruce McDugald, Amalia Seroma and Nicole Williams. From Marysville, this included Terry Alexander, John Fuller, Casey Kent, Linda Lewis-Parker, Brandon Lynch, Kerry Martin, Kevin Miller, Mark Pham, Amy Poteete, Greg Sheldon, Gregory Sheldon, Raeann Studyvin, Stephen Turner and Ramona Warner.
The Columbia College commencement ceremony for its Marysville and Everett students took place on June 3 at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Kevin Palmer, chief information officer for Columbia College, gave the commencement address, while Ren Massey, associate dean for adult higher education for Columbia College, conferred the degrees.
“Our graduates have succeeded in balancing their numerous responsibilities with their career goals,” Massey said. “We are proud to honor their accomplishments.”
Columbia College served active-duty military, their dependents and the public in the greater Puget Sound region with a campus at Naval Station Seattle at Sand Point from 1980-1994. In 1995, that campus was relocated to Naval Station Everett and the Navy Support Complex in Marysville.
