The following is a snow and ice weather advisory update for Dec. 22, for the city of Marysiville.
Snow and Ice Removal
Regarding snow plowing and/or sanding, please be advised that the city of Marysville Street Division in Public Work is working around the clock prioritizing major arterials, collectors and public transportation routes. They are not able to plow and sand every street in the city limits. They will make an attempt to access residential and neighborhood areas once the priority areas have been addressed.
Solid Waste Collection Schedule
Due to inclement weather, the city of Marysville did not provide solid waste service Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Dec. 17-19 or Monday Dec. 22. When weather permits, crews will begin providing service. Please place your garbage at curbside for collection. It will be collected at no additional charge when it is safe for the trucks to get to you.
Waste Management NW Recycling Schedule
Waste Management did not collect recycling or yard debris on these days either. They do not plan to make up those service days. Waste Management’s inclement weather policy on misses is to collect a double load on the next scheduled collection day. Yard debris will be collected on your regular day the week of Jan. 19.

The following are a couple of other things the city wants to remind people about in the Marysville area, according to Doug Buell, Public Information Officer for the city. This regards steps to take in the event of a potential water main break:
It is important to know the location of the main water shutoff valve in your home. The main valve location will vary from home to home, but it is typically located adjacent to the water meter, normally in the garage, or inside a closet in an inlet before the hot water tank. If you’re unsure, you might call the manufacture or installer to find out.
Also, you can help city of Marysville Water Utility Crews by clearing away snow from the main ground-based water meter box near your road or sidewalk. This will enable quicker response in the event that water maintenance crews are summoned to address a problem, and it will help meter readers find them a lot sooner as they are out reading meters.
In the event that temperatures remain at freezing or below, Marysville Public Works recommends that you let cold water from a faucet in your home, especially a faucet served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe – even at a trickle – help prevent pipes from freezing because the temperature of the water running through it is above freezing.
