I was going to this event when I was a kid, said Martin, now 20 and a youth minister at the church and school. He said there is no doubt such events as the Fun Fair led him to greater involvement with the church.
The latest edition of Fun Fair was Oct. 27 at the church and featured arcade style games, a dunk tank and other activities. Pizza, hot dogs and other goodies also were on tap. It all was organized by a group of about 15 junior high and high school students, then staffed by roughly 50 youth volunteers the night of the event.
Its a community outreach, especially for people who might not want their kids out trick or treating, Martin said.
Although its not clear how many kids showed up this year, past events have attracted up to 200 kids. Donation of a canned food item supporting a local food bank served as admission to this years Fun Fair.
