Change your clock, check your battery, get free pizza

The Marysville Fire District is once again teaming up with Domino's Pizza to reward residents who changed the batteries in their smoke alarms when they changed their clocks back to standard time on Sunday, Nov. 4.

MARYSVILLE — Each day, an average of nearly three people die in home fires. Eighty percent of fire deaths involving children occur in homes with no working smoke alarms.

By providing an early warning and critical extra seconds to escape, smoke alarms double a family’s chances of getting out of a home fire alive, but only if they work. That’s why the Marysville Fire District is once again teaming up with Domino’s Pizza to reward residents who changed the batteries in their smoke alarms when they changed their clocks back to standard time on Sunday, Nov. 4.

Marysville firefighters will help Domino’s Pizza of Marysville deliver orders in the Marysville area within the first days of Standard Time, Monday, Nov. 5, through Wednesday, Nov. 7. Firefighters arriving in their fire engine will visit one Domino’s customer per night, between the hours of 5-7 p.m. At each house they visit, firefighters will test the smoke alarms to see if the batteries have been changed, and to ensure the alarms are working. If all of the smoke alarms work, Domino’s Pizza will provide a gift certificate for their next order, up to $20 in value.
