MARYSVILLE In addition to the Town Hall meeting slated for Oct. 30, local officials will have at least one other chance to promote the city as the best choice for a new University of Washington branch campus.
The Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce plans a Business Before Hours program focusing on the issue, 7:30-9 a.m., Oct. 26, at the Tulalip Casino, 10200 Quil Ceda Blvd. The session is set for the casinos Canoes Cabaret Room. Doors will open at 7 a.m.
Director of information for the chamber Bill Wheaton said the meeting will feature, among others, Deb Merle, a higher education advisor to Gov. Christine Gregoire. University of Washington President Emeritus Dr. Lee Huntsman also is expected to attend.
Led by Mayor Dennis Kendall, city and chamber leaders will present why they believe Marysville is the correct spot for the next University of Washington branch campus. Topics also will include how the campus could affect local businesses, property values and job creation, as well as how the city hopes to keep the potential impact on traffic to a minimum.
