CAMANO ISLAND ?The owner of Brindles Marketplace on Camano Island has announced the first of a series of art wine will be launched this Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Camano Island wine shop, the Great Blue Heron Wine Cellar.
To celebrate this event we will have a special signing of the bottles and labels by Jan Erion. Brindle said.
Inside the bottles that host Erions depiction of two great blue herons are two reserve wines from Mount Baker Vineyards an incredible viognier and a cabernet sauvignon, Brindle said.
Erion was selected from many talented artists who submitted their paintings for the first label competiton.
We were drawn to the dynamics of the vivid colors and the sense of fun as the two herons happily enjoyed their wine in each other company, as we all do at the market. Brindle said. Erion has also created a wine label that was put on the magnums for Chateau St. Michelle Winery and she was named artist of the year in 2000 by the Washington State Wine Commission.
The owner of the Mount Baker Vineyards, Randy Findley will be pouring these wines and others from his vineyard from 3 7 p.m. and the signing will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
At that time the markets very popular DeRailed will provide music for the event.
Brindles Marketplace has evolved into a wonderful eclectic community gathering place. Brindle said.
Several businesses are located inside Brindles Marketplace, which features massive cedar beams reaching 25 feet high
The Great Blue Heron Wine Shop is owned by Jim and Lynne Ayers, offering wine tastings on Fridays and Saturdays, classes, wine and food pairings, and a wine club.
The decision to turn the wine shop over to Jim and Lynne was made because of their total commitment and passion for wine and to have a great time with the experience they share, Brindle said.
Brindles Meats and Seafoods is owned and managed by Ross Mc Donald, who has been cutting meat since he was 10 years old working in his fathers plant.
Food is served at Brindles in a delicatessen which is owned and managed by Carry Hutton and now called The Whale of a Tale at Brindles offering prize-winning fish and chips as well as chowder. Hutton also maintains Brindles Catering, serving many special events on and off the island.
Beyond food and wine, the marketplace also offers a small clothing boutique and a fine art gallery.
Bonnie Zs Place is run by Bonnie Zeigler with assistance from Heidi Delich, offering styles in fabrics and colors that fit Northwest tastes.
Doris Platis The Gallery in the Loft has become an integral part of the market since April 2005 showing the work of Camano Island artists and friends.
To round out the market experience Island Custard and Gelato owned by Ed and Carol Stillion truly offers frozen treats that evolve constantly and fresh breads are being introduced for this season.
Brindles Marketplace also has two satellite divisions: The Snow Goose Book Store owned by Kristine Kaufman and Mary Satterlund and Karens Kitchen, owned by Stan and Karen Malmin.
The marketplace offers live music every Friday and Saturday Night from 6:30 – 9 p.m., with a variety of great music from country to contempory to blues and rock all local.

Next door to Brindles Marketplace, holiday shoppers can find unusual items made by local artists and craftspeople at the 5th Annual Holiday Gift Shop, housed in the cozy confines of Camano Island Coffee Roasters at Terrys Corner, Camano Island.
Five years ago, Camano Island Coffee Roasters owner, Jeff Ericson, was approached by several local artisans. They saw the gift-buying season approaching and asked him for his help in selling their wares. With his assistance, the first Holiday Gift Shop in 2001 became a reality, located in a small house across from Twin City Foods in Stanwood. In its fourth year, the gift shop moved to Camano Island and now its celebrating its fifth year at Camano Island Coffee Roasters.
We feel so fortunate to be able to allow those who live here or are passing through to have the opportunity to buy these superb handcrafted works,?said Ericson.
Our shoppers find something unique to give while supporting the community of local artisans at the same time they dont have to fight crowds.

Holiday Art Glass at new SoHo in Lowell
Many glass artists in the greater Everett area and friends are gathering for the Holiday Art Glass Show in the new SoHo in Lowell art gallery, Lowell Artworks, from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, with an artist reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the old brick Plumbers and Fitters Union Hall, 5205 S. 2nd Ave. south of Everett.
