3 car wreck

MARYSVILLE – An Arlington woman and two children were involved in a three car, four injury accident Monday east of Marysville on Highway 9.

Gricelda, 34, Isabella, 6, and Haliana Hernandez Paz were northbound when a car driven by William Breen, 17, of Lake Stevens going southbound reportedly struck a vehicle from behind driven by Edward Swan, 54, also of Lake Stevens, that was stopped waiting to turn. That collision at 8:31 p.m. pushed Swan’s vehicle into Hernandez Paz’s.

All were injured, except Isabella.

Possible charges against Breen are being investigated by the state patrol.

All three vehicles were totaled.

MARYSVILLE – With available blood supplies critically low due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, city officials encourage residents to donate at the blood drive March 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library, 6120 Grove St.

Call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter Marysville to schedule an appointment. “Donating blood is a safe process, and people should not hesitate to give or receive blood,” according to the American Red Cross. “But please postpone your donation for 28 days following travel to China and its special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as Iran, Italy and South Korea, or if you’ve been diagnosed with or have had contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.”

Donating blood takes about an hour; one donation can help up to three people.

ARLINGTON – Clara Nichols of Arlington paged in the state House of Representatives recently. Clara, who is home-schooled, was sponsored by 10th District Rep. Norma Smith, R-Clinton. Clara got an up-close look at the Legislature during the fourth week of the 2020 legislative session. Her responsibilities included delivering messages and documents to state lawmakers in their offices, in committee meetings and on the floor of the House chamber.

Try for board

MARYSVILLE – The Marysville School Board will be accepting applications to replace Tom Albright in District 5, which serves the Sunnyside and Allen Creek elementary school areas.

State law requires the remaining board members to appoint a replacement within 90 days. The appointed member will serve until the next regularly scheduled election in fall 2021. Applications are being accepted through March 27 at 4:30 pm. Applications are available at the Educational Service Center at 4220 80th St. NE or online at www.msd25.org. Criteria includes: Values and Ethical Behavior; Leadership; Professional Development; Equity Focused; Excellent Communication; and Accountability.
