MARYSVILLE — Marysville-based developer Belmark Homes has donated a park to the city of Marysville in the new Shasta Ridge neighborhood.

The Shasta Ridge Park in the Sunnyside area was completed in early June, and its opening ceremonies and ribbon-cutting June 11 were attended by Marysville Mayor Dennis Kendall, Parks and Recreation Director Jim Ballew, and City Council members Jon Nehring, Carmen Rasmussen and Donna Wright. The 1.5-acre park, located at 3907 82nd Ave. NE, features a playground, a fitness station, a full-sized outdoor concrete basketball court, picnic tables, benches and open space, with views overlooking the Puget Sound.

“With fewer dollars being allocated for public spaces, having open, active areas in our neighborhoods is more important than ever,” said Aaron Metcalf, president of Belmark Homes. “The park turned out fantastic and is a win-win for families and the entire community, as the Shasta Ridge neighborhood continues to grow.”

Metcalf thanked Cascade Bank for financing the Shasta Ridge location, noting that Belmark Homes has been a longtime customer of Cascade Bank, whose support he cited as fundamental to the completion of the park.

Kendall deemed the partnership between the city and Belmark Homes “exceptional,” and commended them for dedicating property for the new park facility.

This park is located in Belmark Homes’ Shasta Ridge community, where Belmark Homes is currently selling a new line of homes in phase one. The property donated for a city park equates to five housing lots. The neighborhood will eventually include 110 homes at final build-out. This is the second park donated to the city by Belmark Homes, which opened the Parkside Way Park in 2005 as part of their development alongside State Route 528.
