The Weekender section of The Arlington Times and The Marysville Globe strives to record the creative spirit of the people in our communities while providing a guide for the community on what fun and creative events are going on in and around the local vicinity.
Significant arts-related events in Arlington and Marysville this year range from a new, albeit short, art walk between two bookstores in downtown Marysville, a banner project collaboration between the city of Arlington and the Arlington Arts Council resulting in 24 original paintings displayed around town, and the arts councils effort to acquire more public art for Arlington, and, of course, the Arlington School Districts decision to proceed with the completion of the performing arts center at Arlington High School. Both cities summer concert series are also wonderful contributions to building strong communities by providing opportunities for our local residents to gather and have some fun together. In reviewing the newsworthy art events in our communities, it is clear how much talent and creativity exists in Arlington and Marysville. The talent of musicians, artists and actors of all ages enriches the rest of the community by inspiring thought and interactions.
