Praise & Promise Preschool celebrates last graduation before move to Marysville

SMOKEY POINT — After 21 years at the Smokey Point Community Church, the Praise and Promise Preschool bid farewell to its old home with its May 27 graduation ceremony.

The preschool isn’t shutting down, though. Praise and Promise Preschool founder, director and teacher Sandy Lane explained that the preschool is moving to Mountain View Presbyterian Church, located at 5115 100th St. NE in Marysville.

“We had 40 students in the pre-kindergarten class that graduated May 27, and 80 students total in our preschool,” Lane said. “We started out with only 20 students.”

Lane believes that one aspect of the faith-based Praise and Promise Preschool that sets it apart from its peers is its credentials, starting with her own status as a certified elementary education teacher and speech therapist.

“We join hands with our parents to prepare their children for kindergarten academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually,” Lane said. “We do this all while having fun.”

To that end, this year’s graduating preschoolers spent three days a week for roughly a month practicing for their “graduation circus,” in which they costumed and performed feats as circus performers and animals.

Those who are interested in registering for the coming school year may call Mountain View Presbyterian Church at 360-659-7777. Lane noted that registration is conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
