MG student wins Community Service award

MARYSVILLE – Elise Sumsion of Marysville Getchell High School is the first recipient of the Marysville Rotary Club Community Service Award this school year.

She received a certificate and a check for $100 sponsored by Marysville Les Schwab.

Her community service includes various school and community events and activities with ASB leadership, varsity cheerleading, National Honor Society and Key Club. Examples include: Healthy Kids Day, Twilight Run, Juan Mendoza Run, MGHS graduation, campus clean-up, back-to-school orientation and registration, Little Chargers Cheer Camp, Strawberry Festival and fundraisers supporting suicide awareness, breast cancer, service dogs and foster kids.

For four years she did a charity dance project, and she was the choreographer for the high school production of “Beauty and the Beast” last spring.
