Marysville schools ask community to sign drug-free pledges

MARYSVILLE – Cedarcrest Middle School, and others in the Marysville School District, got important people in their lives to make key pledges last week.

As part of Red Ribbon Week, the schools asked students, teachers and administrators to sign a pledge to be “safe, healthy and drug-free.” At Cedarcrest, the 30 students in the Well-Wolves Club led the drive to collect 732 pledges. They even got their parents to participate because there were conferences that week.

The Wellness Club meets once a week during lunch, and is mostly student-led, said Natalie Gustafson, a student assistant professional at the school. Each month that club, and similar ones districtwide, focuses on a different area of prevention.
