MARYSVILLE — Saturday, Jan. 12, will see downtown Marysville going retro for “the King,” as the Downtown Marysville Merchants Association conducts a belated birthday bash in honor of Elvis Presley.

Although Presley’s birthday was Jan. 8, the merchants of Second and Third streets, and the adjacent blocks of State Avenue, will be celebrating it on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., during which time visitors are encouraged to stop by dressed in the fashions of the 1950s and ’60s.

Classic rock-and-roll music will be playing in the street and the stores, and vinyl fans will even be able to stroll downtown and exchange their own records for ones available through the “Record Swap.”

While the Carabinieri Bar menu offers Elvis’ favorite snacks of malts, Pepsi and peanut-butter-and-bacon sandwiches, shoppers and browsers can hunt down the life-size Elvises that will be scattered throughout Finders Keepers Furnishings, Trusty Threads, the Craft Mart, the Vintage Violet, Wrenhaven Vintage Market and Carr’s Hardware.
