Healthy Communities Challenge Day June 6

Marysville-area residents will have an opportunity to focus on fitness during the June 6 Healthy Communities Challenge Day, taking place from 1-7 p.m. at the Allen Creek Elementary School and the Marysville YMCA, at 6505 60th Dr. NE.

MARYSVILLE — Marysville-area residents will have an opportunity to focus on fitness during the June 6 Healthy Communities Challenge Day, taking place from 1-7 p.m. at the Allen Creek Elementary School and the Marysville YMCA, at 6505 60th Dr. NE.

The main stage for the event will be set up at the Allen Creek Elementary School courtyard. Scheduled events include two rounds of hula hoop challenges, from 1:30-2:15 p.m. and from 3:30-4:15 p.m., an appearance by Ciscoe the Gardener from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and a Tim Noah concert from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

In addition, Healthy Communities Challenge Day will feature free family health screenings from Marysville Family Medicine, sports injury prevention screenings from Summit Rehabilitation, free bicycle safety checks for those who ride their bikes to the event, information on Marysville Youth Sports Clubs, walking and running seminars, free herb garden kits for kids, and demonstrations and raffles of Nintendo Wii sets. A Marysville Mile Walk will also be conducted on the Jennings Park loop, and healthy food will be available from vendors such as Let’s Dish!

The event is being presented by the city of Marysville Parks and Recreation Department, along with Healthy Communities of Marysville, the Marysville YMCA, The Marysville Globe, the Marysville School District, the Sno-Isle Libraries, Summit Rehabilitation, Marysville Family Medicine, Get Movin’ and Let’s Dish!
