Cedar Ave. closes for two hours on April 13 for Rudy Wright mural dedication

MARYSVILLE — The Rudy Wright Memorial Field in Marysville will serve as the site for a dedication ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, to unveil a mural by a local artist honoring the life of Rudy Wright.

MARYSVILLE — The Rudy Wright Memorial Field in Marysville will serve as the site for a dedication ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, to unveil a mural by a local artist honoring the life of Rudy Wright.

Wright was the owner of Rudy’s Recreation on State Avenue, a supporter of local youth sports and a volunteer firefighter for Marysville, who responded on a fire engine to clean up a fuel spill at a vehicle crash on northbound I-5 on Nov. 3, 1970. A car traveling south in the northbound lane crashed into the accident scene and took Wright’s life.

From noon to 2 p.m. on April 13, Cedar Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Grove to 10th streets. Police officers posted at those locations will allow local traffic to pass as needed.
