Arlington hosts state Knowledge Bowl finals Saturday

ARLINGTON – There is a lot of knowledge in Arlington, but there will be even more Saturday as 108 high schools statewide will be here for the state Knowledge Bowl championships.

The events start at 7:30 a.m., that’s right on a Saturday, at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center. A Knowledge Bowl is a quiz-based competition that tests players on a variety of academic subjects.

AHS Knowledge Bowl students competed against other high school students November through January. Last month, they placed second in the playoffs and will move on to state. The staff vs. student competition March 8 gave them a chance to hone their skills. Nearly 300 AHS students cheered them on. It was close but school staff won.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to show what they know,” said AHS teacher Ben Mendro, who organized the event. For details go to sites.google.com/wenatcheeschools.org/wa-kb/home
