Saturday, Aug. 2 at 809 E. 5th St., in Arlington. Admission is free thanks to co-sponsers the city of Arlington and the Friends of the Arlington Library.

Sounds of Summer

The sounds of rock-n-roll by a band called Raucous will fill the downtown Marysville’s Comeford Park at noon Thursday, July 31, in the Marysville Parks and Recreation’s Sounds of Summer concert series sponsored by Verizon FIOS. The Thursday noon concerts are in Comeford Park at 514 Delta Ave, between 5th and 6th streets off of State Avenue. The Friday evening concert, Aug. 1, in Jennings Park offers Beatles tunes by Crème Tangerine, starting at 7 p.m. in Jenning’s Park, 6915 Armar Rd., also sponsored by Verizon FIOS. Master Gardeners around town

Master Gardeners will answer questions at Arlington Hardware 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays, Aug. 2 and 16, at 215 N. Olympic Ave., Arlington. Gardeners are invited to bring in those fuzzy caterpillars, tents in trees and soggy cherry blossoms so that effective remedies can be identified. Master Gardeners also provide advice on plants for privacy, plants for dry or wet areas, varieties of small fruits that produce well here as well as disease resistant fruit tree and vegetable gardening advice. A Master Gardeners’ demo garden is open to the public with Master Gardeners in attendance 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Jennings Park, 6915 Armar Rd., Marysville. • Arlington’s Outdoor Cinema Series concludes with “Grease” on July 31. The movies start a dusk in Terrace Park on East Fifth Street, presented by the city of Arlington.

• In Marysville, the Outdoor Cinema Series is presented by Marysville Parks and Recreation and sponsored by the Snohomish County — Camano Association of Realtors and Verizon FIOS, movies begin at dusk at different parks each week. Youth and adults of all abilities are invited to Village Music and Art’s Friday Music jam sessions featuring live music by Jon Dalgarn and Voices of the Village. Bring your own instrument or borrow one from the organizers. Jam sessions are from 1-3 p.m., every Friday at the Arlington United Church at 338 N. McLeod, in downtown Arlington. Children under the age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Village Music and Arts and Voices of the Village are supported, in part, by grants from the Washington State Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Fred Meyer Foundation. Volunteer Appreciation Night with the AquaSox

For volunteers in all Snohomish County, United Way of Snohomish County, Cascade Bank and the AquaSox want to say thanks and to that end they are offering free tickets to the baseball game on August 5 as the Everett AquaSox take on the Vancouver Canadians.
