Stilly River Clean-up

Volunteers are invited to join the Stilly River Clean-up from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23 with the Stilly-Snohomish Fisheries Enhancement Task Force. They will be removing debris from several fishing access sites along the Stillaguamish River. The work crew will meet at a site near Arlington at 10 a.m. and split into smaller groups that will travel to several sites from Stanwood to Darrington. August Extravaganza at Warm Beach

Silent, mini and live auctions offer items for home and garden, unique experiences, vacations, fine dining, sports and entertainment, craft items, and gifts at the annual August Extravaganza, Saturday, Aug. 23 at Warm Beach Christian Camps and Conference Center. Preview starts at 9 a.m. and the Mini Live Auction starts at 10 a.m. The Silent Auction is from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and the Live Auction is at 12:45 p.m. Between auctions munch on hot dogs, salads, drinks, snacks, hot “Warm Beach” cinnamon rolls and Ivar’s clam chowder. Free activities include draft-horse wagon rides, train rides, a petting farm, bouldering wall. Auction proceeds fund camp scholarships and the camp’s annual fund. Taste of Washington

A benefit for Kids’ Kloset in Arlington to provide complete wardrobes for children in need twice a year, A Taste of Washington offers an evening of Washington food delights, with Washington wines, beers and food provided by local growers, to keep the crowd happy while bidding on elaborate baskets filled goodies in a silent auction from 6 – 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23. Art at the Plant Farm

Spaces remain available for artists in the Arlington Arts Council’s “Art at The Plant Farm” Sept. 13 and 14. Open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the fine art show will include a wide variety of art by the members of three north Snohomish County guilds, the AAC, Stanwood Camano Art Guild, and the Greater Marysville Art Guild. There will be live music, beautiful plants and inviting grounds to stroll. The Plant Farm at Smokey Point is located just west of I-5 and south of 172nd St. NE at I-5 exit 206. KIDSTAGE presents ‘Annie Get Your Gun’

Young actors from all around Snohomish County will present “Annie Get Your Gun,” through Aug. 24 in the Village Theatre KIDSTAGE SummerStock program at the Everett Performing Arts Center. “Annie Get Your Gun” tells the story of the adventurous Annie Oakley, a sharp-shooter who falls in love with her competition, Frank Butler, featuring Irving Berlin’s well-known hit tunes “Anything You Can Do” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business” in Peter Stone’s Tony-award winning 1999 revision of the original 1946 classic.

Roaming Artists show work

Thirty five north Snohomish County artists who paint outdoors around Stanwood and Camano Island, the Roaming Artists have announced their upcoming annual exhibit of “plein-air” paintings will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 30 and 31 at Camano Center, the blue building, at 141 N. Evergreen Fair tickets and wristbands now on sale

The Evergreen State Fair has several money-saving options for patrons who want to purchase tickets and carnival wristbands early. Adult admission tickets are discounted to $7 in advance; senior citizen tickets are $6 in advance; youth tickets are $4 in advance.

Carnival wristbands, which are valid on weekday, except Labor Day, beginning at 11 a.m. are $22 in advance. For each Pay-One-Price ticket sold, the customer will receive discount coupons at the Butler Carnival ticket booths, which are valid for $1 off one large soft drink, large cotton candy or $1 off one carnival game play.

Advance tickets can be purchased at Bartell Drug Stores, Snohomish County QFC Stores, Monroe 76 on Hwy. 2, Monroe Red Barn and the SnoCope Federal Credit Union. Carnival wristbands can be purchased at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, SnoCope Federal Credit Union, Bartell Drug Stores and at the Fair Pass booth.

Registration for Lights of Christmas

Registration is now open for overnight getaway packages and dinner/dessert theater at The Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach Camp. New this year, registration is available online at www.warmbeach.com. Overnight getaway packages include accommodations in one of Warm Beach Camp’s many holiday-themed lodgings, a hot buffet breakfast and general admission to The Lights of Christmas.

Dinner theatre is a full evening of holiday entertainment and elegant dining with a six-course meal followed by the play, offered December 4-6, 11-13, 18-20, and 22-23. Dinner theater tickets also include general admission tickets to be used on another evening. On Sundays dessert matinees include a delicious dessert buffet during the production, offered December 7, 14 and 21.
