Two and a half years ago, Teresa Bates, owner of Marysville Performing Arts Centre, took a chance mid-season and asked me to join her teaching staff. I have a 45-year career as a teacher, choreographer and director. When I moved to the area five years ago, an initial unprofessional experience almost caused me to retire. Thanks to the guidance and encouragement from Mrs. Bates, along with supportive parents, I am teaching again and loving my work.
The student performance this year, on June 30, was one of the highlights of my lifes work. I have never been so proud of a dance company. Their hard work and dedication was outstanding. I love all my ballerinas.
Thanks to Mrs. Bates, her organization skills, direct communication and a policy of ensuring that this year and every year the curriculum is about the students, made it one of the best performances of which Ive ever had the pleasure of being a part. On July 10, after the recital, I had a total hip replacement. The whole procedure was very successful aside from a few problems with medication. Again, the studio came through for me showing their concern and compassion in so many ways. They made sure my husband and I had wonderful food. They ran errands for us, stayed with me while my husband was at work and helped keep the house in order.
I have not been able to write my thank you notes yet, but I wanted them all to know how deeply we appreciate everything they have done for us. I am looking forward to seeing them in September for class and company. I know it will be another amazing year. I feel very blessed. With love to all,
