MARYSVILLE By this time next year the states second largest high school will likely be broken into about seven or eight different schools as Marysville-Pilchuck High School initiates a move toward smaller learning communities of about 400 students each. A new high school planned for Getchell Hill will adopt these same models, and some could potentially transfer there when it is built by 2010 or 2011.

MARYSVILLE Former resident Chet Moyer returned to town last weekend to celebrate his 103rd Birthday with friends and family. Moyer was born on Oct. 6, 1903 and is still sharp mentally and physically: he adroitly belted out his favorite tune God Bless America to an audience at Grandview Village, the retirement community he called home for several years.

Sunnyside Elementary music teacher Brenda Erhardt, center, is all smiles as she lends a hand to McDonalds employee Paula West. To Erhardts left is McDonalds Erin Nakmura and Sunnyside second-grade teacher Laurie Faaberg. Erhardt and Faaberg were just two of some 20-plus Sunnyside staffers who took part in a McTeachers night Jan. 17 at the Marysville McDonalds on State Avenue. For three hours, in return for the help of teachers, the restaurant donated 20 percent of its proceeds to the schools parent group. Sunnyside Principal Jane Colson said the event was well publicized at the school and she expected a standing room only crowd.
