In its latest efforts to offer free, fitness-related recreational opportunities to area residents, Marysville Healthy Communities Project partners have added more free swimming dates to help all ages get healthier.
With the time change approaching Nov. 1, the Marysville Fire District wants to remind area residents to check the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
Marysville Care Center residents and associates are encouraging community members to take part in the 2009 Operation Christmas Child campaign by filling sturdy shoe boxes, or other similarly sized storage boxes, with Christmas gifts.
The boxes will be distributed to children in war-torn and poverty-stricken countries by Samaritan’s Purse, the Christian relief organization headed by Franklin Graham, son of the Rev. Billy Graham.
Operation Marysville Community Christmas, an ad hoc committee of the Marysville Community Food Bank, is registering families in need now for Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and toys.
Local health officials decided Thursday to host special “express” clinics on Saturday, Oct. 24, to vaccinate children ages 6 months through 4 years and pregnant women. The clinics throughout the county will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Just before noon on Oct. 22 Marysville police responded to a silent alarm at a residence on the east side of Marysville. Upon arrival at the home officers came upon a truck parked in the driveway occupied by a male subject. As police made contact with the subject a second subject exited the residence and upon seeing officers blurted, “I just needed the money.”
Both subjects were placed under arrest upon verification the residence had, in fact, been burglarized.

Quilceda Community Services, which serves adults with developmental disabilities, is holding two fundraisers this fall to benefit Willow Place, an activity center in Marysville with the same mission as QCS.
