Its first day of school was Sept. 7, but the Marysville Getchell High School campus conducted its official dedication ceremony in its gymnasium Sept. 18.
MARYSVILLE — Soroptimist International of Marysville conducted another open house Sept. 16 to “Get Acquainted” with the local community, and according to Marysville Soroptimist President Renae James, it’s already yielded results.
The Marysville City Council voted unanimously Sept. 20 to approve the formation of a Local Improvement District to help fund the construction of an overpass at 156th Street NE, but the citizens who testified during the Council’s public hearing were far more divided in their opinions.

Marysville’s Monica Berginc, who was a preliminary pageant director when the All-American Girl Pageant was last conducted in Marysville Feb. 27, has since been promoted to the pageant’s Washington state director.
MARYSVILLE — Bad weather might have driven the event indoors halfway through its four-hour running time, but HomeStreet Bank’s Marysville branch kept its first small business fair going Sept. 10.
MARYSVILLE — Shoultes Elementary’s playground got a touch-up just in time for the start of the school year, thanks to the C&D Zodiac Aerospace company.
Approximately 30 company employees from Marysville and California converged at the school Sept. 3 to lay down fresh coats of paint on the blacktop, re-gravel the track and refurbish the baseball dugouts, with funds from the company’s Give and Grow foundation.
“If you want to visit a house where there is a sustained odor, I have it down to a schedule when we smell it, and you are more than welcome to come to my house,” Marysville resident Suavek Lobrow said at the Marysville Boys & Girls Club Sept. 9.

MARYSVILLE — Extra-early wake-up times, hectic check-ins, bustling gymnasium assemblies and concerted efforts to foster a sense of community marked the start of the 2010-11 school year at Marysville elementary and middle schools.
MARYSVILLE — Drivers on State Route 529 have already dealt with several closures and detours on the existing 85-year-old Ebey Slough Bridge since construction started on its replacement near the end of July, but Washington State Department of Transportation representatives assured motorists that the end results would be worth it.
As students arrived for orientation Aug. 24, construction crews continued to prepare Marysville Getchell High School for its first day of school Sept. 7.
According to Marysville School District Capital Facilities Director John Bingham, the vast majority of the work is already done, and the biggest task left is simply relocation.
