MARYSVILLE – The Red Cross is assisting at least six residents displaced by a fire Friday evening.
A fire destroyed one unit and damaged two others at the Cedar House Apartments on 5705 Grove St. A call to 9-1-1 came in just after 4:50 p.m., reporting flames coming from the building, Marysville fire spokeswoman Christie Veley said in a news release.
One resident was inside the apartment, but he escaped after exiting a bedroom and observing smoke and flames in the main living area.
Within 30 minutes, firefighters evacuated the property and extinguished the blaze, limiting the majority of the damage to the apartment where the fire began. Two other units sustained smoke damage. Marysville received mutual assistance from Arlington, Silvana, Getchell and Everett.
