MARYSVILLE – A 63-year-old Haggen’s Grocery Store clerk suffered a serious cut to his face, narrowly missing his eye, while attempting to recover stolen steaks and bacon from a couple. At approximately 4:12 Sunday morning a 28-year-old Everett woman and her 31-year-old Snohomish boyfriend scuffled with a clerk at Haggen’s in the 3700 block of 88th St. NE. The woman had shoplifted a couple packages of ribeye steak and some bacon. While the man was paying for other items, a Haggen’s clerk confronted the woman. She began to fight with the clerk, striking him in the face a couple of times, Marysville police spokesman Mark Thomas said in a news release.
The male suspect intervened, also striking the clerk in the face a couple of times. As they fought, the woman ran to their car, returning carrying a knife. She swung the knife at the clerk, cutting him outside of his left eye and across the bridge of his nose. The clerk was later transported to the Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with non-life threatening injuries. Police later took both suspects into custody, and they were booked into the Snohomish County Jail. Both were booked on suspicion of felony robbery first degree, while the woman was also booked on suspicion of felony assault first degree.
