MG, M-P softballers still have shots at state

EVERETT – Don’t count out either of the girls softball teams from Marysville Getchell or Marysville-Pilchuck high schools just yet.

Both are just one win away from going to state.

MG plays Everett and M-P plays Edmonds-Woodway today at 4 p.m. at Phil Johnson Fields in Everett in the consolation bracket of the 3A District 1 Tournament.

If they win, they both go to state, even though they would play in the consolation final at 6 tonight.

MG moved on with a 10-1 win over Lynnwood Thursday. M-P moved to the consolation bracket by falling to Meadowdale 9-5.

Thea Hatch hit a home run, Emily Petermeyer smacked a double and knocked in two runs, and Hannah Kranz hit a double to lead the Chargers at the plate. Bri Palm was the winning pitcher, going seven innings, striking out 11.

For M-P, four errors hurt them. Lily Fischer and Lexi Phelps hit homers and Mckenzie Justice smacked a triple in a losing cause.
