Lakewood boys split games in Yakima, girls host tourney (slide show)

YAKIMA – Alex Coleman tallied 20 points and had six steals as Lakewood blasted WF West right out of the Yakima Valley SunDome Thursday 61-46.

The Cougars trailed 12-8 after a period, but outscored WF West 20-8 in the second period and coasted from there, finishing with a 21-9 advantage in the final period.

Jared Taylor contributed 15 points and Alex Jensen 11. Michai Harris added 6, Morgan Stacey 5, Justice Taylor 2, and Shae Dixon and Kaiden Harrison scored 1 each.

The Lakewood girls team hosted the Holiday Classic Tournament and played Everett Thursday night. Scores were not reported. The Centralia Tigers and Nathan Hale Raiders were also in the tourney. They also played Friday but scores again were not reported.

The boys also played Friday and ran into one of the top teams in the state in Zillah, losing 78-54. The Cougars were never in it, falling behind 25-13 in the first period.

Jensen led the way with 17, Coleman had 10, Taylor had 7, Stacey and Harris 6 each, Jackson Schultz and Sergiy Nelson had 3 each, and Dixon tallied 2.
