Eagle runner 10th at huge Lakewood meet; local football teams win big; Arlington volleyballers stun Snohomish

CROSS COUNTRY

At Lakewood High Saturday in the 36th annual Hole in the Wall race, Arlington’s boys were eighth and Lakewood’s 31st.

Sophomore Aiden Emerson of Arlington was 10th out of 380 runners with a time of 15 minutes, 34 seconds. The winning time was 14:49.9.

Eagle Chance Pearston was 48th; Vincent Loftis 52nd; Ryan Barene 109th; freshman Ryan Rushton 136th; Isaiah Lowery 148th; Quincy Fankhauser, 175th; Lakewood’s Alex Jensen was 103rd; Gabe Hatch 140th; Jarron Ransford 163rd; Jesse Stoddard 214th; Joseph Heisley 280th; Ben Schmidt 316th; Ethan Stapleton 359th; For the girls, Arlington was 21st and Lakewood 36th.

For the Eagles, Paige Nelson was 124th in 19:58; Anne Louise Fernandez 126th; Tailer Cochran 129th; Maggie Delaney 148th; Hannah Johnson 151st; Kate Rosson 179th; Vivian Potong 225th; For the Cougs, Callie Buchanan was 155th; Madison Howe 175th; Holly Riley 190th; Alexa Daily 238th; Jaydee Yargus 286th; More than 125 schools with 4,000 runners competed.

Marysville

Meanwhile, at St. Martin’s University in Lacey, MG won a girls race while the boys were 19th.

FOOTBALL

Marysville

M-P whipped MG in the Berry Bowl Friday 47-7 to improve to 6-0. Jordan Justice ran for 217 yards, scoring four times, and also caught a 20-yard TD grab from QB Jake Elwood. His TD runs were for 73, 3, 83 and 5 yards. Jay Gray added a 30-yard TD run and Lincoln intercepted a pass and scored from 15 yards. Caleb Blonk scored on a 1-yard run for MG.

Lakewood

The Cougars won a home-game thriller over No. 3 ranked Archbishop Murphy 35-27 to move to 5-1, while the visitors dropped to 4-2. Morgan Stacey caught a 6-yard TD pass from QB Jared Taylor, Taylor scored on a 51-yard run, and Carson Chrisman scored on a 33-yard pass from Taylor to give the Cougs a big lead. The teams then went back-and-forth with ABM scoring three times and Lakewood twice on runs of 47 and 6 yards by Taylor to take the win. Taylor ran for 172 yards on 21 carries.

Arlington

The Eagles trounced Oak Harbor 43-8 Friday to move to 5-1. Quarterback Trent Nobach tossed four TDs, twice to Jaden Roskelly, who also scored on two 3-yard runs. Chase Petersen and Gage Price also caught TD passes.

VOLLEYBALL

Arlington

The Eagles, 8-0, ended a 22-game Wesco league winning streak by Snohomish, upsetting the Panthers at home in three straight last Thursday. Their 25-22 loss in the first set was their first loss of the season. The second game was 25-20. The last set went into extra play before the visitors won 26-24.

Arianna Bilby led Arlington with 11 kills, 18 digs, two blocks and two assists. Sophomore Emily Mekelburg added eight service aces, six kills, six digs and a block.

Marysville

MG fell to Everett last Thursday 14-25, 24-26, 26-28 and 9-15. Karragyn Heacock led the Chargers with 10 kills, 2 blocks and 5 digs. Kelsey Kolling had 8 kills and 13 digs. Courtney Taylor had 5 kills and 5 digs, and Kate Roberts 5 kills and 2 blocks. Hannah Hoscher set up the offense with 29 assists. She also had 9 digs and 2 service aces.

Lakewood

The Cougs dropped a match to Sehome 3-0 last Thursday.

TENNIS

Marysville

Meadowdale got by M-P 5-2 in a hard-fought match. Winners for the Tomahawks were Carson Asper 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Trae Tingelstad at No.3 singles 6-7, 6-1, 7-5. Davis Magee at No. 4 singles lost in three sets, as did the No. 2 doubles team of Aaron Kalab-Treven Southard.

Meanwhile, the Chargers lost to Monroe 7-0 last Thursday. Nine games were won by Ryder Hurley-Kane Selapack at No. 2 doubles.

Arlington

The Eagles fell to Shorewood 7-0 last Thursday. Ty Rucco won eight games at No. 2 singles. They also lost to Stanwood 7-0 last Wednesday. Colby King at No. 4 singles had the best outing, losing in three sets but winning 14 games.

Lakewood

The Cougars beat Mariner 5-2 last Thursday. They also lost to Burlington-Edison last Wednesday 7-0.

GIRLS SOCCER

Marysville

MG blanked Mountlake Terrace Saturday 1-0. Last Thursday, the Chargers blanked Everett 4-0.

Arlington

The Eagles were blanked by Snohomish 4-0 last Thursday.

Lakewood

Last Wednesday, the Cougars were blanked by Sehome 4-0.
