3 Arlington golfers, 2 from M-P qualify for state

EVERETT – Three Arlington golfers and two from Marysville-Pilchuck high schools qualified for state after placing at the 3A District 1 Championship at Walter Hall Golf Course Tuesday.

Josef Koznek of Everett was the medalist, shooting a 73-71—144 over the two days.

Connor Stephens of Arlington was second with a 73-75—148. Teammates Cody Oakes, with an 82-74—156, and Caden Smith, 81-80—161, also made it to state. For M-P, the state qualifiers are CJ Goodman, 77-79—156, and Nate Venables, 80-76—156.

State will be at Columbia Point May 23-24.

The girls tournament was set to start Tuesday at Kayak Point and finish Wednesday. Those top performers will go to state May 23-24 at Canyon Lakes.

Tuesday, Lakewood competed in the 2A Districts at Skagit Golf Course.

While the two medalists shot 83, Bailey Dixon of Lakewood shot 97, good enough for 15th place. Teammate Brooke Foresell shot a 100 for 17th place.
