ARLINGTON – It may sound odd at the start of a season, but Coach Nick Brown is waiting for his team to “get healthy.”

The Eagles boys basketball team sees its first action of the year Nov. 25 at a jamboree at Mercer Island.

Earlier this week, Brown said four varsity players were out with injuries – including one with a concussion from football. Six players were healthy.

When everyone is ready to play, Brown said the Eagles should have good inside-outside play with a combination of some “bigs” on the inside and some guards who can hit outside shots.

Junior Anthony Whitis, who played quarterback on the football team, will likely end up playing the point with Griffin Gardoski at shooting guard. Both averaged about 10 points a game last year.

Inside, Arlington will have Gelu Aribibola, a 6-foot-9 center, along with 6-5 Will Abram and 6-4 Max Smith.

“We have size, strength and speed,” Brown said. “We are young but experienced, and they work hard.”

The players are mostly juniors, with three seniors, led by Campbell Hudson, a receiver standout in football.
