In the sports world, tearing an ACL can damage most athletic careers, if not the athlete’s spirit. And if one ACL injury isn’t enough to stop you from competing, usually a second or third would put you on the couch for a while. But if your name is Amanda Klep, four ACL surgeries are still not enough to get in the way of achieving your goals — which turned out to be three WIAA State Track and Field Championship medals.

The WIAA State Track and Field Meet resulted in big wins for the Marysville area, as local athletes took home nine medals from the three-day event on May 24-27 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
Marysville-Pilchuck’s Courtney Fitzmaurice has qualified along with her select volleyball teammates from Lake Volleyball Club’s U15 Blue, to compete in the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championship Tournament from June 27 to July 5 in Dallas, Texas.
Marysville Getchell hosted the 3A District 1 girls golf championships at Cedarcrest Golf Course on Wednesday, May 15, and junior Jacquelyn Martin qualified for the state championships.
