Lady Cougars drop two tough league matches

The Lady Cougars volleyball team lost two tough Cascade Conference matches Oct. 10-12.
Thursday, Oct. 12, Lakewood was swept at home 3-0 by the Lady Knights of Kings. Game scores were 6-25, 18-25 and 15-25.
Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Lady Cougars lost 3-1 at home to the Lady Red Wolves of Cedarcrest. The Cedarcrest game scores were 25-17, 13-25, 13-25 and 21-25.
Lakewood was led by the 10 kills from sophomore Amanda Gregory, junior Aly Stewart had eight kills and sophomore Peyton Mizell had 17 assists, three kills and was a perfect 14-for-14 serving.
The Lady Cougars were never short on effort as they were constantly hustling, scrapping and hitting all over the court.
Coach Monica Rooney said it was the second time her squad had faced the Red Wolves (6-3 in league play and overall) and felt her team was ready.
The Cougars started the match strong serving tough, attacking smart and playing aggressive defense, Rooney said.
We had a let down in games two and three but picked up our game in game four against a tough opponent.
On Thursday, Oct. 12, the Lady Cougars fell to the Lady Knights of Kings in three games.
Kings improved to a perfect 10-0 in league play and overall.
