Lakewood wrestling gaining experience while losing matches

The Cougars wrestling team lost a double dual to La Conner and Bellevue Christian at home Tuesday, Dec. 12.
LHS lost to La Conner 48-41 and Bellevue Christian 44-30 to see their record drop to 0-3 overall.
In the La Conner match, Lakewood earned victories from 130-lb. senior Steve Edmonds, 135-lb. sophomore Jason Mueller, 140-lb. senior Robert Tucksen, 145-lb. sophomore Billy McKeever, 152-lb. sophomore Steve Bingham, and 160-lb. junior Aaron Leonard.
Against Bellevue Christian, Edmonds, Tucksen, McKeever and Leonard were all double winners in addition to freshman Lady Cougar Keely Caldwell in the 112-lb. weight class.
Coach Tom OHara said one thing that continues to hurt his squad is the forfeiture of the bookend matches lightweights and heavyweights.
We are giving up between three and four forfeits per match and thats 24 points surrendered before even stepping on the mat, OHara said.
He emphasized that he is not nearly as concerned with the teams wins and losses as he his their progression throughout the season.
My guys are coming together and sticking together. We are going to keep getting better throughout the year. It is not as though they arent trying, we are trying not to get beat and pinned and not to win matches. There are no excuses you just have to go out there.
